23rd April 2020: Turangi trout fishing report

Weather: 17 degree C (day), 11 degree C (evening)

Lake Taupo fishery is still closed and is in lock down due to Covid 19 at this point, as soon as we get the green light clearance i will advise. Safe Distancing and Hand Sanitizer while fishing will be the normal from now on when we do get back fly fishing the Turangi rivers for the the wonderful fresh run Lake Taupo spawning Trout.
Our local river Tauranga Taupo - TT is running crystal clear and at its lowest point of the year due to the lack of rain with fresh run trout building up below the TT bridge big time pre the last light rain you could see at least eighty or so fresh run trout waiting for the right conditions to run the river. Our weather has been stunning over the four week lock down here in Turangi with nice still sunny days and warm evenings making it good conditions for evening hatches of sedge and caddis flies also the Leaf hopper is still out on the wing.
Cheers tight lines
