Trout fishing is a very popular sport with Trout being abundant in numbers around the country. There are many methods to fish for trout depending on where they are being fished at, such as lakes like Lake Taupo or rivers like Tongariro River. Trout fishing can be done all year round, but in most parts of New Zealand, only in the summer. At Tongariro River however, winter is when more fishing is done with migrating Brown and Rainbow Trout travelling from Lake Taupo into the river.
